Fully customized breast enhancement with natural-looking results

San Antonio Scene Magazine: Annual Peer Survey

How many people have breast implants? In 2015, there were 279,143 breast augmentation procedures performed in the U.S., an increase of 31% over volumes in the year 2000

Breast augmentation surgery is the most popular cosmetic surgery in the United States. In fact, nearly 4% of all adult American women have undergone this plastic surgery procedure. During this procedure, the shape and size of the breasts are enhanced. The majority of augmentations are performed through the insertion of saline or silicone breast implants, but many patients now also seek enhancement through the transfer of fat from other parts of their body. Breast augmentation gives women full, firm, well-proportioned breasts.

Why do women get breast implants?

There are many valid reasons for considering breast augmentation. The most common reasons women consider this type of cosmetic surgery include:

    • a desire for larger breasts
    • to proportion the upper body with the lower body
    • to correct breasts that are asymmetrical in size or shape
    • to restore breast volume loss caused by breast feeding
    • to enhance breast density after weight loss
    • to balance changes in breast tissue, size and shape caused by pregnancy

"Do you prefer a specific type of breast implant for augmentation surgeries?"

    Dr. Bindewald's Surgical Philosophy

"When it comes to choosing an implant, ultimately I respect the desires of the patient. Personally, I prefer silicone implants given their more natural consistency. They also have less rippling than saline implants, which can be a factor in thinner women. I am also a fan of the form-stable highly cohesive gel implants, often referred to as “gummy bear” implants, in that I feel they have a more natural appearing profile. However, the gummy bear implants have a more firm consistency that some women may not like. Saline implants are still an option, particularly if you do not want to undergo the periodic follow up breast MRI's that are recommended with silicone implants. There are a lot of different choices to make regarding breast augmentation and it is important to have a thorough conversation with your surgeon in order to arrive at the right procedure and implants for you."

How can I calculate my desired cup size?

Start by calculating your current "correct" bra size.

Take a flexible cloth tape measure and measure the circumference of your chests right at your nipple line. Write down this number (A). Then measure the circumference of your chest just underneath your breasts, where your bra strap typically sits. Remember to keep the tape measure level all the way around. Read more.

What is the average bra size of a woman in America?

Believe it or not, the average bra size in America today is a 34DD (2013). Sound bigger than you thought? It is. Just 20 years ago the average size was only a 34B. The increase in size can be attributed to several factors including the popularity of breast enhancement surgery, a rising obesity rate, and even more accurate bra sizing (Fusion).

How many cc's is right for my breast implants?
